Soldiers were issued balls of clay colored to match their leather. The ball was mixed with oil or water and applied to the leather with a brush or cloth to cover stains. Corporal Todd wrote of it in his journal June 23, 1761.
Simply rub on and brush off the excess. Use also to abrade nap from hides when tanning. Large size ball, approx. 2" diameter.
