This French and Indian War era knapsack made of soft, supple, hair-on cow hide is shown in numerous paintings. It is worn on the back with the strap diagonally across the shoulder and chest. Brown cow hide with brown or black strap and a solid brass buckle. The sack measures approximately 15" X 27". We strive to make every knapsack the same size, however that ability may be restricted by the size and shape of the cow hide, so dimensions may vary slightly.

The first painting is a portion of a 1748 David Morier painting of the 46th, 47th, and 48th Foot. The second is an Edward Penney painting from 1764.
